Catholic Mission

At Prouille we seek opportunities for our community to actively express our deep commitment to Gospel values such as human dignity, compassion, responsibility and service to others.

Liturgical Life

At Prouille we provide rich liturgical experiences for the whole community to enjoy and participate in. These liturgical experiences include;

  • Whole School Masses celebrated at Holy Name Church with Fr Kelvin. These Masses include: Opening School Year Mass, Feast of the Sacred Heart, Solemnity of the Assumption and End of Year Mass.
  • Whole School Liturgies which are celebrated in Prouille’s Veritas Hall. These liturgies are hosted by the children and their teachers, and they include: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, St Dominic’s Day, Refugee and Migrant Week, Reconciliation Week as well as Holy Week and Advent.

The children at Prouille are also fortunate to experience small-scale liturgies and Masses within their class group. These special occasions are scheduled throughout the year and Fr David comes to share these experiences either within St Dominic’s Chapel, or when the children attend a daily Parish Mass at Holy Name. As well, the children and their families host Family Parish Masses throughout the year on Sunday mornings at 9.15am. These are vibrant, youthful and memorable Masses which are led by the Oong family.

Sacramental Life

Our Parish, Holy Name Wahroonga, co-ordinates the Sacramental Program. The Sacramental Program focusses on preparing the students to receive the Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Confirmation is made by those students who are baptised Catholics and are in Year 2 (or above) at school.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is made by students who are in Year 3 (and have already received the Sacrament of Confirmation). After the Sacrament of Reconciliation, students then prepare for First Eucharist.

We are very fortunate to have such strong ties with our Parish and the Sacramental Co-ordinator, Mrs Sally Oong, who facilitates Parent Information Evenings with Fr Paul, and prepares the Group Leaders in readiness for the program, as well as providing practices for the children ahead of their ‘big day’.

St Vincent de Paul Society Winter Appeal and Christmas Appeal

Each year the Prouille school community aids the wonderful work performed by the St Vincent de Paul Society by donating items for Winter time and Christmas time.

The families of Prouille always give so generously with large donations of food, clothing and blankets at Winter time, and Christmas gifts, festive treats, food and Summertime juices and iceblocks for needy families in Whalan (Western Sydney) during Advent.

Fundraising for Candela Peru

The students raised approximately $2500 for the women in the shanty-town of Candela, Peru, through the sales of their Peruvian handicrafts. The Sisters of Mercy in Peru have been able to provide a nutrition programme for the pre-school children in Candela and a medical centre and school has been built to provide much needed assistance for the families of the town.

The ongoing support of Prouille and other Catholic Diocesan Schools has seen a total transformation of Candela over the last 15 years.
